The South African Footwear and Leather Export Council (SAFLEC) is the official voice for exporters of footwear (shoes) manufacturers and allied activities in South Africa.
We are officially appointed by the Government of South Africa to promote, facilitate and network South Africa’s footwear and allied industries to international markets.
SAFLEC represents approximately 122 companies spread across the country. The main shoe production occurs in Gauteng (Johannesburg), Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban and Pietermaritzburg), Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth), South Western Cape (Great Brak River, George and Oudtshoorn) and Western Cape (Cape Town, Somerset West, Wellington, and Tulbagh).
The annual production of footwear (shoes) currently totals +/- 50 million pairs with major export markets into neighbouring Africa and other exports to USA, UK and Australia as well. Our advanced paediatric-designed school shoes are being successfully exported to the United Kingdom.
